Snarky Puppy through the sound of Fela Anikulapo Kuti

When Leke Adeboye mentioned that he loved (late) Fela Anikulapo Kuti, he was backlashed as well as his personal opinion. Many didn’t value his sincerity.

Sadly, the legendary Afro-beat maestro is not recognized by many. Well, may be for those who can’t appreciate the aesthetics of good music: rhythms, rhyme and prophet-message.

Interestingly, what we take for granted is what the world celebrates. Bands across the world have spent years rehearsing and scoring the sax compositions and jazz scale improvisiations of the Afro-beat legend, Fela. One of such band is ‘Snarky-Puppy’.

Meet Brooklyn born and based, three-times Grammy Award winning ‘Snarky Puppy’. For many who didn’t know, this is one of three bands I confessed I listened to and which I listed on my public author-profile. Snarky Puppy plays Jazz,Neo-soul,Funk,Afro-beat and Synth music. It is led by bassist, Michael League and has as one of its lead piansists, Cory Henry. The other two bands I listen to are ‘Hillsongs’ and ‘Pieces of a Dream’

The voice of Fela re-echoes in their symphonies.
